Dear Supporters and Concerned Ohioans,

To build an effective movement to end the death penalty, people need to get active. Recently the Campaign to End the Death Penalty (CEDP) has begun organizing in Toledo, Ohio.

The CEDP (www.nodeathpenalty.org) is a national grass-roots organization committed to building the movement to abolish the death penalty in the United States. While other groups focus on lobbying politicians and filing lawsuits to end the death penalty, the CEDP objective is to end capital punishment by mobilizing opposition to it from the grassroots up. This group believes that progressive change happens when large numbers of people organize themselves and demand change from their leaders. Moreover, through education and activism, the CEDP builds public awareness about this issue and the public’s opposition to it.

The Toledo chapter is currently building the “Free Siddique Abdullah Hasan Coalition” in my defense, and your help is needed. Please consider joining and getting involved with the Toledo Chapter of the CEDP, or help to start a new chapter in your area. To join the Toldeo Chapter, contact Alex Read at (419) 944-5327 or email [email protected] Alternatively, if you want to help start a new chapter in your respective area, call the CEDP national office at (773) 955-4841.

It is time to end the barbarity of the death penalty. You can help by either becoming a supporting member of the Campaign to End the Death Penalty or by doing the following:

1. Share this letter with as many persons as you possibly can; and
2. Help bring a CDEP conference or rally to your respective city; and
3. Either attend its upcoming fundraiser and/or donate to its cause. The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, September 23rd, in Toledo, Ohio. You can find out more about the fundraiser by contacting Patrick Dyer at (419) 340-4902 or [email protected]

Thank you for your time, consideration, and cooperation in these matters.

In Solidarity,
