The Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) is the state government agency in Indiana which operates the state incarceration facilities in Indiana and oversees the conviction of all sentenced state offenders in Indiana. Its headquarters are located in Indianapolis. IDOC manages one of the country's most populated prison facilities which currently houses more than  27,140 adult Inmates,  over 300 juvenile Inmates, and employs nearly  6000 State Employed Staff, and about 1,718 Contracted Staff.

If you are trying to locate an incarcerated individual in the state of Indiana, it is imperative that you have all your facts right. And by facts, we mean the inmate’s details and the name or location of the incarceration facility they are housed at.

For instance, there are several adults, juvenile correctional facilities, and work release centers in Indiana. If you want to look for an inmate's personal data, you can search through Indiana Inmate Records. The IIR has a database for all Indiana State offenders, which provides all details to help identify an incarcerated individual.

You will find every personal detail in the database, such as age, gender, race, and physical description. It further provides administrative details such as date of admission, offense committed, incarceration details, transfers,  incarceration facility name, and scheduled release date.

How to Find an Inmate in Indiana

Indiana has the IDOC search tool. This requires you to have the correct search details about the inmate. They include the names and the unique DOC number. Follow the procedure below.

Search by Name

Step 1: Search can be done with the last name or both the first and last name. Enter the last name in the section shown and search. E.g. Joe

Step 2: Search and check the result

Step 3: Click on DOC number for details (Joe, Kenny R)

Click search and check the results. For this method, when the number is correct, you get individualized results.
